Life at Shearwater: Fun in the Summer Sun

Shearwater is jam-packed with amenities that are perfect for summertime fun, including The Outpost: Shearwater’s New Adventure Park! This brand new amenity includes a screened pavilion, kids’ playground, fireplace and even a zipline. Residents celebrated the opening of this fun-filled amenity with shaved ice, a DJ and plenty of snacks. And expected to open later this year, The Kayak Launch!
But one of the things our residents love most about Shearwater is the lifestyle programming planned by our Lifestyle Director! The lifestyle programming makes sure things never get boring. It also helps bring residents together to create memories and build lifelong friendships. Just take a look at what our Lifestyle Director planned for the residents this summer – they sure had a blast!
Summer Movie Night
Pass the popcorn! Residents enjoyed watching “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” on the lawn at the Kayak Club.
Summer Swim Program
To help our youngest residents get comfortable in the water, swimming lessons were held at the Shearwater pool all throughout the season.
Food Truck Nights
This actually happens year-round, but in the summer there’s something extra special about walking down to the Kayak Club to grab a bite. Food trucks rotate, so you never know if you’ll find burgers, seafood, sweets or anything in between!
Freedom Fest
Shearwater residents celebrated Independence Day in style! The highlight of the event was the parade throughout the community, where residents decked out their golf carts and bikes to participate. There was also live music, a face painter, caricature artist, food and more.
Game Night Mixer
This adults-only night of games was a huge hit! Heated games of cards, dominoes and Scrabble were made even better with some snacks and drinks.
Coffee on the Porch
This is another activity that’s so loved, it happens year-round. Once a month, the group gets together to enjoy a complementary cup of coffee while they chat and catch up. It’s the simple things that matter!
Water Wars: Teen Edition
This event was filled with pizza, snacks and plenty of water balloons! Water tag was a favorite, and the perfect way to stay cool while having fun.
Endless Summer
This event capped off the season! Games and rides kept the kids busy while the adults enjoyed live music and an adults-only zone. Kids were able to grab a back-to-school pack to get them ready for the school year.
