Naturally Connected — Where Nature Meets Community at Shearwater

May 23rd, 2025

There’s that tiny moment when it suddenly hits you. It may be when the morning sun cuts through the trees on your early morning run. It could be when the wind grazes the back of your neck when you’re out walking the dog. Or maybe it’s when you hear the echoing sounds of wildlife in  the distance as you enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine.

It’s in these moments that you feel this profound sense of connection — to nature, to community, to people, and above all, to your true self. This is what naturally connected living at Shearwater is all about.

Jogging On Trails

Mornings Rooted In Nature

As dawn breaks over Trout Creek, kayakers push off from the launch on a direct path to the St. Johns River. On the community’s 13 miles of nature trails, joggers and cyclists greet each other with familiar nods.

While those who prefer a slower start to the day, enjoy a serene meandering walk through the trees. Meanwhile, early risers at the Fitness Lodge are halfway through their classes and routines, and it’s barely 9 a.m.

No two mornings at Shearwater are ever the same, yet each one reminds you that here, nature is more than just scenery, it’s a way of life.

Afternoons of Adventure and Connectedness

As the day unfolds, so do the opportunities to connect. The Outpost Adventure Park buzzes as kids race across the zipline and parents relax under the open-air pavilion, sharing coffee and conversation. Nearby, friendly matches unfold on the Har-Tru tennis courts. Don’t forget to follow through on that backhand! And over at the Kayak Club, the heart of the community, residents lounge by the resort-style lagoon, taking a refreshing dip in the lap pool, tackling the three-story waterslide, or floating down the Lazy Bird River.

Even the four-legged members of our community find their place, with spacious dog parks where pups can run freely.

Evenings Under the Canopy

When the sun begins to dip, Shearwater takes on that golden Florida glow. Magic hour! Couples take evening strolls. Others may mingle with friends on their back patios for an evening of drinks and hors d’oeuvres (a.k.a. the sunset lounge), and as night takes hold, some residents will gather around the fire pit at the Outpost and share highlights of their day. Laughter guaranteed.

A Community Designed for Deep Connections

Shearwater was designed to nurture connections between people and the land, between neighbors and family generations. This community fosters a true sense of belonging that you can see and feel in every corner of Shearwater, as ospreys soar overhead and manatees glide along the creek. “I love my neighborhood and my neighbors. This is a great family-oriented community,” says Shearwater homeowner Nigel Eldridge.
