Summer Fun at Shearwater

June 14th, 2017

The days are getting longer, the sun is shining brighter and excitement is in the air. It can only mean one thing – summer is finally here! It’s a season meant for adventure, and there’s plenty to be had at Shearwater, Freehold Communities’ master-planned community in St. Johns County.

Shearwater residents kicked off the summer at Rock the Deck, just one of the many events planned by our full-time Lifestyle Director, Dylan. A live local band rocking out on the pool deck made quite a splash as residents kicked off their sandals, donned their swimsuits and enjoyed the resort-style pools, Lazy Bird River and food trucks. And Shearwater residents have even more to look forward to in the coming months!

Let the Fun Begin!

Summertime at Shearwater is jam-packed with all sorts of unique community programs. In June, residents can look forward to the Downstream Get Down, a day of fun on the water held at nearby Trout Creek. Imagine starting the summer with kayaking, paddle boarding or even biking on water, then enjoying hotdogs and fishing with your Shearwater family! July is just as exciting with the All-American Freedom Fest, a patriotic, picnic-style event featuring grilled hotdogs and hamburgers, kite flying, an outdoor movie on the event lawn and an apple pie competition. Plus, all of Shearwater is invited to participate in a community-wide 4th of July golf cart and bike parade! Then just as August signals the end of summer for most, Shearwater residents keep the fun going with the Endless Summer event. Funky pool floats, plenty of watermelon to eat, ice pops and water balloons wrap up the summer in style.

It Never Ends

But the fun certainly doesn’t stop there! Residents have a full calendar of events, activities and clubs to keep them busy and connected to their community all year round! Besides seasonal events like the Haunted Boardwalk, Winter Festival and the Easter Egg Blast, there are plenty of events throughout the year to look forward to. At Shearwater’s First Friday events, residents and prospective homebuyers can mingle and taste new and delicious food from some of St. Johns County’s hottest food trucks while enjoying fun activities at the Kayak Club like live music, trivia, bingo, karaoke and even lip-sync battles! Residents can also get to know each other better at Coffee on the Porch on the second Wednesday of every month. Here, residents can meet up on the Kayak Club front porch to relax, enjoy the cool morning air and catch up with their friends and neighbors over coffee, donuts and fresh fruit.

Every Day Excitement

Let’s not forget the fun to be had every day at Shearwater. The resort-style Lagoon and multi-lane Lap Pool, The Perch three-story water slide tower, and the winding Lazy Bird River provide plenty of opportunities for fun, whether you’re looking for an adrenaline rush or just a relaxing afternoon in the sun. Hone your skills on the four Har-Tru® tennis courts, strike up some friendly competition on the manicured sports fields, or enjoy some fresh air during your morning Sun Salutations on the Yoga Lawn. With so many options to choose from, the hardest part isn’t deciding what to do, but what to do first!
