First Residents Describe Shearwater as a “24/7 Vacation”

July 20th, 2016

Shearwater is pleased to welcome the Easterling family to the neighborhood. A single dad, Chris Easterling was looking for a home close to his children’s schools and activities. When they discovered Shearwater, it was love at first sight.

With family as his top priority, Chris had some requirements for their new home: it would have to be within their current school district, close to their friends, and include amenities for the whole family. Shearwater was the perfect fit. With outdoor trails, recreational lakes, pools and even a lazy bird river (the longest in North Florida), there’s something for everyone in the family.

Shearwater has the best amenities of any community we looked at,” Chris said. “The lazy bird river, the fireplaces, the zero-entry pool and the multi-lane lap pool are great. My kids are both recreational swimmers, so I can definitely see a Shearwater swim team in their future.” Given the family’s active lifestyle, he added, “Running and walking the trails is very appealing.”

Chris and his kids considered some traditional neighborhoods in the area, but had driven past Shearwater and wanted to find out what the new community offered. “After we saw Shearwater, the kids said, ‘Dad, this is where we want to live,’” Chris said. He met with the sales agent that same afternoon. In addition to the unique amenities, the Easterlings loved the fresh new designs of the homes in Shearwater. “Everything was really up-to-date, fashionable and electronic-friendly,” Chris commented. “Homes are wired for sound, and there is Wi-Fi everywhere and room for TVs. That’s something you don’t see in homes that are maybe 15 or 20 years old, like the ones we’re used to.”

A pilot for 20 years, Chris is thrilled that his new home requires very little maintenance, since he is often busy with work. He also values the energy-efficient features that will drastically reduce his monthly bills. Shearwater’s unique combination of attractive home designs, appealing amenities, and close proximity to great schools made it easy for the Easterling family to settle into their new home. They’re looking forward to the events and activities on the Kayak Club’s year-round events calendar. Chris concluded, “It’s almost like being on vacation 24 hours a day.”

Set within an A-rated school district in St. Johns County, just 30 minutes from both Jacksonville and St. Augustine, Shearwater is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and active families. The community includes 13 miles of walking trails through more than 600 acres of preserved habitat, parks, fields, and lakes with direct canoe/kayak access to Trout Creek in future phases. The Kayak Club and Fitness Lodge will feature a lazy bird river, slide tower, four Har-Tru tennis courts, resort-style lagoon pool and multi-lane lap pools, commercial spaces and multiple entertaining areas.
