Where Every Day Feels Like The Best Day Outside

March 26th, 2026

The days are longer, the trails are calling and spring at Shearwater is a reminder of why this community was built differently. Where nature and modern living come together, every season feels like an invitation to get outside. And this spring at Shearwater comes with exciting new reasons to love where you live.

An Outdoor Enthusiast’s Haven

Everything at Shearwater is designed to get you outside — and keep you there. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, exploring with the kids or just looking for a quiet moment in nature, this community meets you where you are. Fifteen miles of walking and biking trails wind through 600 acres of preserved habitat, connecting neighborhoods to pocket parks, scenic overlooks and the Outpost Adventure Park, where a zipline, built-in fire pit and hilltop playground make any afternoon feel like an adventure. Four illuminated Har-Tru clay tennis courts — including a stadium court — and manicured sports fields give residents space for everything from a casual rally to organized league play. And the Fitness Lodge puts state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment steps away from the lap pool and trail system, so your workout can start inside and finish under open sky.

Then there’s the water. The Kayak Club sits lakeside at the heart of the community, where the resort-style lagoon pool, three-story waterslide known as The Perch and the Lazy Bird River — the longest lazy river in Northeast Florida — are surrounded by lush landscaping and spacious lounge areas. But the real standout is the Kayak Launch, offering direct access to Trout Creek and, from there, the St. Johns River. Residents can paddle, fish or simply float — all without ever leaving the community. It’s the kind of access that most people only get on vacation.

And the four-legged members of the family haven’t been forgotten. Shearwater’s two dedicated dog parks give your pups room to run, play and make new friends — while you do the same.

Even More Outdoor Fun Is On The Way

As if Shearwater’s own amenities weren’t enough, two major St. Johns County park projects are now under construction right at the community’s doorstep — part of a $100+ million county-wide initiative to expand and enrich public recreation across the region.

The Shearwater Community Park & Library is taking shape right here within Shearwater, adjacent to Trout Creek Academy. When it opens, residents will have access to a community center and full public library, basketball and pickleball courts, a skate spot, a splash pad, a climbing tower and a multipurpose field — all designed for families. Imagine dropping the kids off at school by golf cart, then heading next door for a pickup game or an hour at the library while they’re at practice. It’s that kind of convenience.

Just off County Road 16A — a short walk or bike ride from the community — the St. Johns County Silverleaf Sportsplex will bring eight rectangular sports fields (five synthetic turf, three natural grass), a track, multipurpose spaces and a playground built for all-day fun. Designed to host regional tournaments and community leagues alike, it’s a major addition for athletes and families of every age. Together, these parks are a natural extension of the active, connected lifestyle Shearwater residents already enjoy.
